I rebuilt the 5.8l 351 windsor engine from a van i bought since the rings were siezed. got it all put back in and at first it ran but was rough then after shutting it off it wouldnt start back up and would flood plugs. changed the idle air control valve and map sensor. still ran rough and wouldnt start after shutting off, so changed out the fuel pressure regulator and it started right up and ran beautifully but after shutting off it wouldnt start back up. looked up this issue and found out about the coolant temp sensor so i changed that out and now it wont start. it will for a second if you crank with gas pedal to the floor but then shuts off. Really need help with this as i feel like im chasing my tail.
Check the codes, check the fuel pressure
Have that pressure gauge taped to the windshield when you go to start it next time
Rebuilt motors are tight
Next time you get it running, let it run long enough to get real hot before shutting it off
Then give it a rest to cool down before trying it again
After a few of those warm up cycles, the engine should start running better and start easier
That is provided everything is okay including the base timing set
Trust your work
Did you set the base timing?
