Hey all, i recently purchased a good set of doors for my 1993 f350. My old ones were all dented up from thr PO smacking the 4 post tube brcket tow mirrors on all kinds of stuff. Anyway, my new doors are compatible with the 2 post 4 bolt style mirrors but didnt come with any. Im looking for some used ones off of facebook marketplace part outs, and have noticed that some have an upwards facing top bracket and some have a down facing top bracket.
Is there a good way to know which type my door needs? Sometimes its difficult to get these guys to take measurements for you so it would be easier if i just knew what i was looking for.
Is it all the same and the bracket can just come off and be flipped over for different mounting types?
ill attach the pictures of the two different styles ive seen on marketplace. Notice the top mounting bracket.

Reason: Typo in first paragraph
I have the 2nd ones on my truck and they are factory Ford as my truck was bought new by my BIL. The measurement from top holes to bottom holes is 9 1/2".
These are called Type 9 mirrors. Sometime in the 1990 model year the top bracket changed. Post 1990 the mirror sits higher in relation to the window opening as the above pictures show. They are interchangable but might not look correct.
Also, they changed over to stainless torx screws sometime around 1994, before that they were chrome which often rusted up.
If you find mirrors with little rust on the door brackets and only look a little foggy, the fog effect is a clear coat the factory installed over the chrome and it is failing. You can remove the rest with steel wool and the chrome will look new again but might be a good idea to reapply a wax coating at minimum or a new clear coat if these sit out in the weather.

The first type with bracket on top was used as early as I think 1984.
My 1985 has them.
I was mistaken earlier by mentioning sometime in 1990 as the transition year. Upon reviewing my notes it was 1991-1/2 - 1997 for the top bracket w/ bolts underneath (2nd picture) type 9 mirror.
Just before the new body style but I did pull the "revised" mirror set from a 91 once at a yard.

I would say it is 91 straight up or perhaps 90 1/2 because my 91 was made in 10/90 and it has the #2 style. I don't have a pic of my VIN tag for my 90 truck but it was very early too as I ordered it in Oct 89 and it has the style #1.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but can anyone send me a link for black mirrors similar to the pics above for an 88 F150 standard cab 2wd? I just bought some from TRQ (Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/371143770645 ) and the bracket was too small. (not 9 1/2 inches between the holes). Now I'm gun-shy about ordering another set. Thanks!
