Tailgate finish trim mounting hole differences??
Ran into an odd one..my ‘84 tailgate was rotted out on the bottom, so I removed the trim for a later date once I found a good gate. Well, I finally found a pretty decent one off of an ‘82, but the holes don’t match up! The center set matches, but the rest do not. I’m suspecting the gate off the ‘82 came off of an ‘86 since it’s a different color. Is that what’s going on here, or did they have a couple of different patterns between 80-84?

Don't know about the trim holes, but don't be surprised if the different gate doesn't match up to the bed hardware. The early gates had metal straps, the later gates had cables. And the bolts were different, etc.
