Your problem is caused by an airleak in your fuel system. By your description, I can tell you the leak is between the fuel tank and the Lift pump thats bolted the the passenger side of your engine block. Check the rubber hose that connects the steel fuel line to the lift pump. Its a common failure point. Also check the rest of the steel fuel line for wetness, especially around clamps where corrosion can create pin holes in the steel fuel line.
