Switching Back To The BG Product Fluids
The 2020 connect started out with the Motorcraft ATF trans fluid, and over time I wasn't impressed with the performance and auto shifting related to this fluid. The van or all transit connect vans have been known to have a shuddering issue. We've had the van for 4 years with 78K miles and it's bene difficult to locate the BG Products line for the van. We did locate one shop who uses the BG products and opted to allow them to flush and fill the system. But they change up on us editing the cost to do this services.. they instead did a drain and fill service. needless to say all those years searching for someone to do the BG Services, this one shop attempted to screw us over. At least we were able to get eh BG Products Low viscosity ATF in the trans before leaving. This was at 40K miles..
Along the way we've gather up the support from Motul a French motor oil company who sent us a case of their Low viscosity trans fluid. I was skeptical about change the BG products to the Motul version. But after doing so, I noticed the Motul fluid was not as good or worse than the Motorcraft fluid. So it was back to finding a new shop that uses the BG Products.. and that was at 48K miles.. The thing that's not helping is that the BG site lists shops that sell or use the BG products.. 90% of that data is wrong cause every time we think we find a shop that uses the BG Products.. they don't.
Finally at 76K miles we located a Amazon vendor who sells the BG products and we bought a case, took it to our shop (who was having trouble locating the BG Products also) and had them over see the BG Drain and Fill. Returning back to the BG products fluid was the best thing we could have done to and for the van. the shifting is smoother and with less to no shuddering issues. One would say that all trans fluids are the same.. but if they've test these products like we have on their car or van, there is a difference. now that we know that the BG product can be purchased online, we'll start stocking up for the new flush and fill down the road which will happen at 108K miles.
