2001 F-350 windshield upper separating?

I'm new to the forum. I have a 2001 F350, and it looks like the top of the windshield is separating, or at least not properly mated with the opening. Truck had several issues when I got it, and still discovering some "new" issues as I get more familiar with it.

No water intrusion YET, but wanted to get opinions on whether this should go to a shop that specializes in glass replacement, a shop that that does body/accident repair? Or should I just seal it up myself and see how long it holds? I will be driving a lot of Highway miles, and and pretty uncomfortable with the way that the top of the windshield looks, but maybe it's not a huge deal? It doesn't rattle at all.

It's likely this has been an issue since I got it, but haven't had much time with the truck and I definitely noticed it today when washing it for the first time.

This goes all the way across the top and top 1/4th of both sides. The bottom, and the bottom of the sides looks to be firmly seated.

If it were me I would get an opinion from a good glass shop. I'm thinking they are going to recommend replacing the windshield. Good thing is they can seal up the windshield mating surface while they have it out to prevent rust. Man that would bother me!

Yeah it is definitely bugging me. I don't know what bothers me more, the fact that I didn't notice it until now, or the fact that it looks the way it does. 🤔

So I'm 40 and never had to get a windshield replaced until I got my SD... I put it off forever with a big crack on it. Call up a shop to replace the glass and I was surprised that it was only $240 and they came to my house to replace it.

First off, that is JUST the trim that is coming up, it's NOT the windshield itself. If you aren't getting water intrusion, then the glass is still sealed properly. You could probably pull it off completely and not have issues for a while.

That said, a glass shop can probably fix it for you, and for pretty cheap. I wouldn't think you'd need to go to a body shop at all - they're going to cost more than a glass shop.
