CARGO LIGHT SWITCH

I want to put a 12v cigarette lighter outlet in my bed and want to know if I can use the power to the bed light switch. I cant find a schematic to check the wiring. I have a 12v cooler/fridge I want to power while in the bed. Thanks for the help.

The switch doesn’t carry any power.

it just sends a ground back to the bcm which then sends power to the lights.

Wouldn't be very much power to that light so I'm not sure what you'd be able to power off the 12v outlet.

You could probably pull from the trailer charge wire at one of the plugs that's right there.

Only thing to find out is if that would trigger the truck to think it's got a tailer attached, would be easy enough to test out at the plug before actually wiring it up.

I can tell you from experience you cannot use the “power” from the bed light switch to power anything. It will sense the extra power draw and shut off.

Also, that switch is always hot fyi
