bed light
Hi Im new here and just bought my superduty,01 f250 love the truck. Had a question about the bed light, when I open the doors the light comes on and while driving at night if I turn on the in cab light on using the switch by the headlight switch the bed light comes on also, this is not good while driving at night possibly blinding traffic behind. Is this how it is wired on all ford trucks?

Welcome to FTE. Thats how the lights are wired on the Super Duties. It could be different on other years. The bed light shouldn't be bright enough to cause a problem for drivers behind you. If they're close enough for it to be a problem, they're probably following WAY too close. You could put a switch in there if you really want to. I think it involves pulling the back of the headliner down though.

the light really isnt bright enough to blind another driver in the first place and the lense and case is designed not to project light out but its probably wired like that because its easier to wire it in that way so it comes on when you open door, unlock it with the remoter/keypad, and its nice because you can see in the bed at night under those circumstances or just by turning on your in-cab lights...even if it could stand to be brighter to help you see in the bed in the dark, my dad just recently put a fog light aimed toward the bed mounted on the ladder-rack on either side...hopefully will help keep the truck from getting broken into again he's probably getting a viper alarm soon
