Post Excursion Color-Matched Step Boards ??

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Feb-02 AT 08:32 PM (EST)]Hi, first time posting here..what a great site!

I'll be picking-up my '02 F-250 CrewCab in 8 days, and I've been checking out the Excursions since they seem to have all of the cool accessories. I've noticed that the Excursions have color matched step boards (I'm guessing Westin Brand), with the 2-tone paint lower trim color. It looks like in the brochures (the local dealer has none on the lot) that there are maybe two different shades of tan? Are these the only different colors available on the Excursion besides black? And do all the Excursion step boards have lights both front and rear? The two-tone paint on the Excursions, with the color matched step boards and color-match front bumper inserts sure look nice, and I'd like to try and pull it off on my F-250.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Howdy and WELCOME!!

>>that there are maybe two different shades of tan? Are these the only different colors available on the Excursion besides black?

I've only seen one color of tan. They are standard on the Limited trim.

No. Not all, only those with the comfort and convenience package. But those baords with the lights are, in fact, in the front AND rear.

There are a couple of guys over forddiesel.com that have taken the Limited trim off. They may have it available for re-sale. I'm not sure of the condition though.

If you are interested in lighted running boards (black) mine MIGHT be available. I'll let you know within the next week or so.

Thanks for the info. Our local dealer only has one Excursion ( an XLT), so no "real-life" example of step (running) board colors. And as I'm sure you know, the brochures are pretty tough to judge colors by. I think the Tan would go well on my F250, as it is Highland Green, but I want to stay with 'gray tones' on the trim so it will match my Unimog and car-trailer. So I'd be interested in your running boards if you decide to sell them. I'll e-mail you off list.
I'm going for the monochromatic look, and already have a painted (Highland Green) grill with billeted inserts, and the paint shop is lined up to paint the lower front bumper trim Highland Green also. They said they can't paint the door handles because of the texture and wear (I sure like that the Excursions have color matched handles). Are the Excursion door handles painted or 'molded' in the vehicle color?

BTW I sure like you 'Tag-Line' logos!
Thanks again,
Mark '02 F-250 CrewCab SB V10 (7 days and counting...)

Wow! You got me on that one. I would ASSume that they are painted to save a few bucks over molding them with color. If you think about it, that would be outrageous to have 20 or so different door handles molded! With all the retarded cost saving measures I've heard about and seen on these Fords, I would highly doubt them to be molded in color.

Got mine back from the shop today for a door latch problem on the driver side. It has stuck in the open position a couple times. They needed to order a new outer door handle. Don't know why that is being my wife picked it up. What ever the problem was, The tech seemed to know what It was when I described the problem. Didn't think to ask if it came painted or not?
