Start the engine, put it in drive, and I am unable to cycle completely into overdrive. My OverDrive button on the shifter is not "OFF", nor did I ever manually disable it. At 22,000 miles, what is going on with this '01 V-10?
What has been the temperature lately where you live? I think I read that the trans, when cold, will not shift readily into OD. Something to do with warming up faster. It should do so when warm though.
You mean it NEVER goes into OD? Even once it is warm? The OD on/off light on the shifter stalk isn't blinking? You've checked the fluid level? Man, that's odd, usually you'll get some kind of sign...

The ambient temperature is in the 40s; and the engine temperature is up in the equilibrium operational level (especially after driving 200 miles). The very first time it happened was while driving 65-75 mph on Interstate 80 when I let off the throttle going down a hill -- I felt the truck downshift and the rpms come up. I honestly did not see the OD light blinking: the "OFF" indicator light is NOT LIT. If I stop, turn the engine off and then restart, it does reset and operate normally through into OD. Another fix occurs when while, say, at 60 mph I shift into neutral, then into drive and the OD does indeed invoke (sometimes). Let me please further say a few ancillary things: 1) I have a CB radio plugged into one power port; 2) I have a new cellular phone plugged into another power port; 3)A radar detector is also plugged into a power port. This problem manifested itself about 1-2 weeks after I got the new digital (not analog) cellular phone. Of course, I've tried going through the gears with all of these devices un-plugged and powered-off and, even so, the problem does in fact persist.
I think the addition of electronics was just coincidental. If you can duplicate the problem, I suggest you take it in for warranty service as soon as possible. Best get it fixed before something really bad happens and you get stranded alongside the road.

Ford looked at this truck yesterday and said that the overdrive on/off switch at the tip of the shifter was defective. They ordered another one for me. Thanks to all for your concerned input.
