I’ve got an Alpine ILX-W650 in my 2002. It replaced my Kenwood Excelon as it was too bright at night. One a long drive (about 16 hours) I ended up putting a pillow over it due to the brightness. The Alpine has an actual dimmer adjustment of up to -14. It doesn’t support Forscan though.
I will add, the Alpine is a shallow mount so I had not clearance issues behind the dash.
Ready to order something over the weekend. It looks like the Atoto A6 is being phased out though I can still find the Atoto A6PF. It appears it's being replaced with the Atoto F7WE and/or the Atoto F7XE. I'm looking at the Atoto F7WE as I like it has the controls on the side versus along the bottom, but can't tell if it has the voice command to make hands free calls like the others state specifically. In researching I think all of them are capable of hooking up and using the steering wheel radio control buttons. The only thing the Atoto F7WE doesn't have that the other 2 do is the ability to play music while the navigation is running, but it's not a big issue for me especially since one of these will be going in the Ford Edge for you daughter to drive when she turns 16 this fall...
The F7XE has a QLED screen where the F7WE and A6PF have an IPS screen. I would generally consider the QLED a better option, but at 7" diagonally it is negligible.
I could not find any information on the RAM or processor for either of the F7 models. I would assume they would be more/faster than the A6, but I don't know that to be true. The A6 Pro that I have is a bit sluggish at times when using Google Maps, but only a second or maybe 2 seconds delay. It is not like a new Samsung S23 or whatever flavor smartphone you/we are accustomed to,
The A6 Pro works great for my needs though and I suspect the F7 would do well too.
I don't know if you noticed, but there is a $40 coupon available making those head units a killer deal right now.

Oh yeah, I saw that...$118 out the door. I did some more searching and both versions of the F7WE...the touch side controls and the bottom control buttons...are available at the same discount. I need 3, so might just bite the bullet.
Is the A6PF the same thing as the A6 pro?
I can't find any details for the RAM, but it looks like the F7's operating system is the Linux 4.9.217 Sealed Core System versus the A6...and other current models...Android system...
Okay, I wound up with 2 of the F7WE units for now. I installed one of them in our 2008 Ford Edge Limited for our youngest to drive. I added the backup camera...that was a pain to wire given it's all inside...which looks factory given it's in the hidden factory location above the license plate. The factory 8" subwoofer worked, but would cut in and out. I wound up finding a solution to fix it since this is a common issue, which was to simply heat up some solder joints to reconnect them. The sound system in the car has 2 speakers in each of the 4 doors and the 8" sub in the back...I think the sub has dual voice cones at 4 ohms. This combination rocks and I will enjoy it when I need to run an errand around the corner...our daughter isn't in to loud music, so that's a good thing since she's a new driver of less than a month now.
I will be installing the other unit into my F350 but I want some more punch out of the sound system...it's actually not bad stock, but I have a feeling the new unit won't be all that. This is why I'm looking into adding an amplifier and subwoofer behind the back seat...or possibly under the front center jump seat. I don't think it needs much and I always like to keep things Ford upgraded if possible. I've been looking into the possibility of getting an oem factory unit out of a newer Superduty, F150, Expedition, etc. since everything is already together...8" sub in a ported box with the amp attached. I don't know all the details about different sound systems, but it appears the newer 2017 and up Superduty's use what's called a B&O system which I think runs through a bus and may not work with what I'm trying to do. The units up to 2016 seem to be an Audiophile system which is easier to integrate by just wiring. I am leaning this route given most upgrade the newer trucks and sell the factory units barely used cheap.
Looking for input on this and am also open to other aftermarket options. I think Atoto has an amp which mounts to the back of this F7 unit that may be an option. I'm a little worried about the heat though, given it was noticeable with just the head unit when I was buckling everything up in the Edge...
I searched for "powered subwoofer car audio" and came up with a lot of results including the ones below. The Rockville in the bottom right is what I remember the "bazooka tubes" looking like. That was just an example of a powered subwoofer though.

I started searching too and BINGO, those same Rockville "bazooka tubes" popped up. It got me to thinking they could be put behind the back seat in each corners of the cab...below where the stock back speakers are...pointed upwards. I'm just not convinced they would provide a rich bass being in the small canisters, but that might not be a bad thing given there's 2 and also won't over power the other 4 speakers. I also saw the Rockville low profile under the seat hideaway units which might work under each side of the back seat given there's a hump in the middle under there...or even behind each side.
I've found a couple of those too on the local market place. I've measured a couple times and not seeing how they will fit, but it makes sense given you took the tool tray out. So the sub sounds good though being up so close to the back of the seat? Do you have the specs on that unit...watts, ohms, etc.?
If your truck is a crew cab, I would get some front seat sliding mechanism and isnatll them in your rear seat so you can fit a bigger box/custom box.
The system I had in my old work truck got moved to my wife's 00 f250 and the sliding mechanism I got from a spare front bench seat I had were installed and made it possible to fit my custom box in the rear. But Im also a bass head so my opinion might not be worth much if your not into loud and low.

Yeah, I had to lose the tray. Yes sir - it sounds good. Low frequencies have no problem travelling through materials like seats. Plenty of boom for me. My son likes even more punch than I do, and it works for him in the same spot on his 6.0L crew cab.
