Today, Monday the 24th

I have done nothing all day, except sit at this laptop, writing things. Boredom has grabbed me by the throat, and my bladder is objecting to things.

I have had seven AIM conversations with various folk, half a dozen emails, and the rest of the time I have been here, wishing there was something REALLY INTERESTING to do.

How does one deal, cope with, or otherwise handle being out of work? I have my other job, but it is slow just now, nothing doing for the rest of this month, and some of next, so here I sit, Bored out of my skull, wanting something, anything to happen, just so as I can get out of this darned chair.

I still do not regret having said goodbye to the total hypocrisy that is organized religion in the US. I feel a lot cleaner, and can look at myself, so that is cool, but I am assured my Maker has something for me to do..;;.. I just wish he operated with the same sense of urgancy I do.... I do not doubt that there is something coming, I just wish it would hurry up..

I was made to be active, this doing nothing is most annoying. I am of an age where jobs are impossible to get, My resume is very impressive, but started too long ago, so companies that could benefit from my experience do not want an old fart working for them. That sucks, as the young bucks that do work for them don't know what the heck is going on..

I have a beautiful wife, who I love most dearly, and I live in a huge house, with acres of land... Why am I so bored.....

Theo

There has to be something in the yard that needs fixin', mowing, fence repair, go take a walk, you got a dog? get some fresh air. We're slow in work at least two more weeks, We're losing are minds too. I wish I was home I got plenty to do, truck, yard, house,
just trying to give you ideas and a kick in the butt to get outside. these computers will suck you in just like tv.

You can start talking to me on AIM :P
Atleast you'd be a little less bored
But tinker with the truck, clean up little things that have been bothering you, etc

You're mentally becalmed - adrift with no purpose. Some years back I took a two year hiatus. What I discovered was, the more time you have to do something, the longer it takes to get it done. At the end of two years, the simplest task could consume the entire day. Don't fall into this behaviour.

Find a friend or neighbor who has a project that needs completed - basement remodel, garage built, etc and offer to help out. Having a goal and purpose completely changes your outlook.

Because you are sitting on your butt at the computer, Theo.

Do you want me to bring you a Ranger to work on?

. . I have the feeling I'd get it back with a lot of deisel SD parts in it, but what the heck . .

And then you could spit-shine your floor mats, put 6 coats of wax on the dash (if its metal), triple check all grease zerks, polish your tennie shoes. And if perticularly bored, start ironing the wifes dresses, but put the creasein front to see if she notices. Then iron your pants and put the crease on the sides. Besides looking funky, you may even start a new fad among the younger generation. See? There's lotsa things you can do to alleviate boredom (and catch a little heck from the other half in the process).

I did the same thing as Theo today. I have a ton of things I *could* be doing, if I felt like it. But instead of washing dishes, cleaning my gun, or prepping the hallway for paint, I just sat here on the PC most of the day. All the mundane things I'm putting off until motivation sets in, meanwhile I too would like something interesting to do.
It's hailing right now, so now I can worry about the truck getting dinged. Whee.
I will be laid off for 2 months after Xmas and know I will be going stir-crazy in this apartment.

I wear my crease on the side
But thats when I iron my blue jeans...
Don't ask why I do that... I just sometimes get tired of a few wrinkles in them.. so I sorta iron them

thats when i get bored that is and i have nothing to do all day. haha

I had a ton of stuff to do today also
I could have pulled the tranny out of the 4x4 GMC
Tried to replace the motor mount on my Tempo
Took the crossmember out of my 66 and reinforced it
Cleaned up my tools and put them back in the right drawers
Cleaned up my PC desk....
raked leafs, etc

Instead I ate breakfast, sat on here, put up a few tools, sat around

Thank you for your encouragement guys.. a smile has cracked the corner of my mouth, and I am feeling a little less out of it. I need to figure out what to do in the garage, there are things in there that should be at the dump. That will a nice project.

I have polished my boots until I can shave in the reflection, set around Sliks as well, cleaned the truck, cleaned the fridge (do you realize just how bad a fridge can get... ewwww) and tidied up my hard drives, so I am running out of things to do. I ought to go to town, and see about getting food in, but I like MREs so I am cool.

I have taken to shooting at woodpeckers, who are determined to eat my house,, That is enjoyable, but now I will use snake shot in a carbine on them, and actually hit them... Then the sides of the house will not get anymore holes in em.. A couple of weeks ago, one put a HUGE hole in the siding, that took a 7in by 10 inch piece of galvanised sheet to cover.

I would paint the house, if the rest of the family would let me near a paint brush.

I have a rifle I need to take apart, and get working better - the action is worn, and needs a bit of fitting.

Oh well, it could be a lot worse I suppose.

About the interview. I went, the person conducting it was a total moron, this I say without malice, they really were terrible. They had no clue what I was on about, and didn't even know that they had a problem I was supposed to be helping get rid of. So that ended when I left. I cannot suffer fools gladly. So I did not get the contract.. I will just sit around getting older, and look for the next one.

Third week of next month will be interesting.. I get to go to California again, and will hopefully see my friends Dutch and JR and possibly Mike W,, providing it all goes well. We will take Sarah's truck, mine is still objecting to winter. That is so crazy, a truck that only likes the summer.

Sinjin, I will not be posting any more pictures of S&S, they harm people's blood pressure too much.

Hey Theo. Sorry about the job interview. I was wondering about that too.

Today, after about 11, I went to get some quotes on house insurance, (got 3, the cheapest is $254 per year), bought a new GE corded phone (already got a cordless, and the current corded sucks.), checked prices on a Polaroid camera (something my cousin wants to make a "scrap book" for my upcoming wedding) and bought some "toiletries" for our honeymoon (new toothbrushes, toothpaste, triple blade razors, etc) and got a haircut. Then, I went to a Rona (Canadian version of Home Depot) (Home Depot is a 1/2 hour away compared to 5 minutes) and looked into some aluminum ladders. A 6" is $50 and an 8" is $100. Canadian Tire was all sold out. Then I bought some AAA batteries for the woman's palm pilot.

Not bad for about 4 1/2 hours, huh? I still have to do some vacuuming. It's nice to only work 4 10s. I have Mondays all to myself, no nagging, and stuff gets done around the house (sometimes)

Anyway, Theo, have you thought much about starting a new church? You seem qualified to me, being an ex-bishop and all. Ha ha.

I know it's still early, but maybe you could put up some Christmas lights.

Since I retired and can do whatever I please, I find myself more busy than when I was employed. I decided to finally clean up my cluttered garage, but didn't have enough room so I'm building a storage shed in the back yard. I'm making it match the ornimental fence I just completed (I cut all 255 pickets with a jig saw) and fit in with the landscaping I did this summer (which is watered by the automatic sprinckler system I installed). After the garage is cleaned out, I'm going to rebuild my work bench and plumb in my air compressor. I'm still searching for a Lincoln Navigator backup light/ license holder assembly so I can redo the back of the Ranger. Seems like there's always a project going on.
