Lighting Upgrades
Hey all! I just recently bought a 2012 Ford Expedition EL XLT and while it's been nothing but a great truck, I want to do a few upgrades. For starters, with it about to become a teenager, the lights are DIM. I've been trying to do my research on compatible LED bulbs to do a full bulb upgrade. I have all of the exterior lights ready to go but, I'm having issues with finding a compatible replacement for the interior & instrument cluster bulbs. I was looking at doing a dashboard upgrade but, I prefer the analog. Not paying a dealership a bunch of money is also a big factor in my decision to upgrade the bulbs instead of the whole dash. Have any of you found a compatible LED bulb for interior lights and instrument clusters?

In short...Sylvania mfg's most of the bulbs....you can upgrade twice with the halogens BUT the improvement is very minimal and secondly the highest upgrade the bulbs do get hot and subjects the plastic housing to warpage....something you don't want....and they have a short life of 1-2 years typically. Going to LED.s, well the only thing out there is NOT DOT approved (and labeled as fog lights), secondly, the led's need to be kept cool and the higher QA ones have mini fans that are attached to them....but guess what, although they will last 5+ years, if the fan goes out so does the LED....
IMHO, I would look at adding aux driving lights if you don't have them already.
