Replacement Bumpers???
My question:
I've looked into replacement bumpers and find lots of choices, but very few detailed reviews and some that do not seem legit. If you've replaced a bumper and were happy with the product please share your experience, brand, source etc. Or please warn me of those I should avoid if your experience was not so good.
I plan on "refreshing" the exterior of my 01 Super Cab this summer. It looks OK from about 50 on out, but has some minor rust issues, and a couple of spots where the filler is failing on some repairs done about 15 years ago. I'm looking at some metal replacement, dent removal and paint correction leading up to a respray of the entire vehicle. I'm looking for "medium priced" items, maybe around $5-600 for both, preferably NOT from China!
Part of this project will be to replace the bumpers. The front bumper (crash repair item--a deer committed suicide on the original one) has some chrome failing and a dent, the rear bumper has a minor dent and is scratched. I plan to go with an 08-16 style bumper (without 'backup assist holes) on the rear, but want to stay with the 01 factory-style bumper on the front, slotted for the valance and spoiler. Both new bumpers will be chrome.

I'd check with ford on a bumper. Most aftermarket "stock" bumpers are stamped from sheetmetal, just crap. Your sort of stuck on using a front bumper from your generation, a 08-16 I know for sure will NOT fit your truck, the bumper profile is totally different. I think 05-07 is out too. If you can find a good shape bumper, say with a little rust or stains for cheap re-chroming it isn't too bad and for under 500 you'd have a good solid bumper.

08-16 would be for the rear, there are numerous posts and how-to's that make it reasonably do-able.
05-7 will bolt right on, but requires a different grill, headlights, bumper cover and header panel--more than I want to do. I also have a replacement lower valance which is smoothed out and much sleaker looking than OEM so want to stay with the original style on front and use it.
I found an 08-16 rear bumper on-line, Ford part/Tasca Ford dealership but with the plastic trim it cost more than I want to spend on both bumpers, but I definately like the look!
