Ford louder than dodge

My buddie has a 94 dakota 318 and single flowmaster 40 series 3'' tail pipe. I have a 78 F150 Stock exuast , Is there any reason why my truck is louder than his ? (outside the trucks) When turning the same rpm my engine is louder than his exaust. is this bad or is it due to my truck being 16 years older? I personally like the loudness he thinks it sounds like a caged beast!

If it isn't broken or leaking, and you like the sound, why worry?

I'm with pfogle - I doubt your 78 has cats (mine doesn't), and his probably has two cats - if not four...

It;s because your truck is running lower Compression Ratio than his is!!

No cats! he would have as many as four? I'll check next time he is in town. I'm not worrying I like the sound just wondering why it's so loud. Thanx for the info!
