Washer pump system

Hello everyone I normally post in the obs diesel section but am currently trying to get the front washer to work in our 2015 explorer.

So far I have replaced the pump, control stock on the column, checked the fuses, and have a new wiper motor assembly plugged in.

I am able to swap the lines at the pump and the rear wash command sends washer fluid to the windshield. The line is not blocked.

The motor does not run when the front wash function is selected.

I will pull the inner fender and check the pump with 12v to verify rotation in each direction next.

Update: the pump operates in both directions. However it does not move fluid in one direction.

What else is in the circuit that I should check?

Current solution: plug the front line into the other side of the pump. Now the front window will get a wash when the rear wash is selected.

Conclusion: I may put a T in the line under the hood so both ends get washer fluid.
I would rather sort out the signal issue but haven't figured it out.

Here are a couple of previous threads from explorerforum. You'll find a lot of details in them that should allow you to diagnose and solve. Be sure to read the whole threads.

Thank you, I had already read the second link and have swapped fuses and relays around with out success.

Unfortunately there are some acronyms I am not familiar with in the diagnosis pdf in the first link.

Because the wipers work when the wash button is pushed and the pump is verified as working. I think I am looking for a control module. What is the SCCM?

You're more likely looking at a failed wiper control module (the wiper motor module). The SCCM is working as it sent the command, as initiated by the switch, for the combined washer and wiper activation.

See the diagnostic procedure in the thread I linked to earlier, it has the procedure and the schematics.

i did replace the wiper motor assembly with a new Ford unit with no change so the original unit was left in place. What are the chances the new unit is faulty??

Did you follow the diagnostic procedure (as well as reading all of my comments in the linked threads) to determine that the original unit was faulty or was it a guess made without supporting data?

I have read and understood many things.
1. It's my spouses vehicle I rarely drive it.
2. The vehicle came back from the dealership with the diagnosis. I doubted it based on information I found. But decided to at least plug a new wiper motor assembly in.

prior to the dealership the vehicle had the washer motor replaced as the original was seized. It did not operate the forward wash although the wipers wipe and relays click. Next the stalk was replaced. I don't know why.

it went to the dealership for a steering shaft issue and I asked that the wiper washer be diagnosed as I felt it was module related or wiring. I plugged in a new fomco wiper motor assembly with no change.

To verify clear lines I swapped the hoses at the pump now rear wash sprays the front window.(driveable in salted road conditions)

The pump has been verified as working both directions.

So based on all this and that a new fomco part is not faulty. I am tracing a wire from some pin at the wiper motor assembly to the pump...

It is never easy or fun picking up where others have stopped. Especially for the spouse.
