Hi,
I just bought my Grandaddy’s 1996 Ford F-150. Inside isn’t terrible, just minor fading. The trim covering the Driver’s side seatbelt retractor up to the top of the window is the only thing missing. I know if I replace it the colors most likely won’t match so I think I’d just like to replace all of the interior trim. I’d like to stay as close to the original as I possibly can but I cannot figure out what color it really is! Here is the door panel sticker and I have looked up every letter and number on it and still can’t figure it out. I think it’s Royal Blue but I’d just like to make sure. Thanks you guys!!
There was only 1 blue interior color in any given year. Are you trying to nail down a matching color? Take a piece of trim to the auto paint store and have them match it for you, and add a flex agent so it will stick to plastic. You might get lucky and find a match in the SEM Color Coat line, that stuff works really well on plastic and also on upholstery or carpet, but there are of course limited color choices.
You are correct on the color but you do not have to change it. I have a 95 F150 with the same blue interior and pieces are nearly impossible to find in that color. LMR ( Late Model Restorations) has the proper interior paint/dye you will need for your truck. It is the factory color and matches perfectly. I could not be happier. Do yourself a favor and get their adhesion promoter as well. Will make the finished result even better.
I was gonna say
At the dealer we used plastic primer then the Ford spray paint
Tons of those dash parts were paint to match
The Ford paint sucked and peeled after a few years primer or not
Maybe that SEM paint is better?
I have an old 68 Camaro to do, where do you get that SEM paint?
