Calling collect

Any of you ever actually USE 1800 collect or 1800 call att?
Does it really save money? What's the catch? I just want to know in case I have to make a call on my "post-wedding holiday"

I've used 800 collect from pay phones and hotels when possible to avoid the 3rd party rip off operators that charge $2 minute.

Seems to work from those types of phones unless it's blocked.

1800callatt has consistently worked out cheaper to receive than 1800collect. I have used ATT to call home before we got a 3c per minute 1800 number.. That is way cheaper..

Cell phones like the three different companies versions in my home, often do not work when you want them to. Nobody has totall coverage, and signal strength is often very low away from major cities.

I won't be bringing my cell phone. I don't think they work on cruise ships anyway. I also won't be calling from my hotel room in Disneyland either. Down to the lobby for me. I don't need to call anyone, but I figure I should update the family on how things are going.

Also, does 1800 collect or 1800 call att work in Mexico? How about on a cruise ship?

Get yourself a calling card, they run about $.03 per minute.

If you have a Costco near you they have some 670 minute ones for $20.

The problem with AT&T is that they charge a $2.44 connect fee, you see it on your bill. MCI is the same way, I don't know what their connect fee is though.
