Ever since i bought my truck, my passenger side mirror's ball joint has been loose and i cannot see a way to tighten it. I am wondering if there is a way to tighten the ball joint to keep it in place. I have considered replacing the mirror heads but have read a lot of poor reviews saying they aren't built well like the oem ones and don't last long. Has anybody had experience with the aftermarket mirrors? What is your opinion on them?

As seen on YouTube, I removed mine from the truck and soaked it, face down, in about an inch of gasoline, to release the silicone from the glass.
Inside, there's a hat shaped metal bracket and a spring. Mine was completely rusted away, so I cut a bevel on an electrical conduit coupling and through bolted the mirror housing back on.
I used 3M moulding tape to reattach the glass.
I did the gasoline soak overnight in an outdoor shed, for safety reasons.
I saw the same reviews you saw about aftermarket replacements.
I've had a couple pairs of aftermarket mirrors similar to that. Both were terrible. They vibrated a lot. That doesn't guarantee that all are bad, but they aren't a great bet.

I believe OBS Solutions sold some but I think they were $400. At that price I would find some 2008+ mirrors used and get the mounting brackets so you can still use the smoker/vent window.

I don't need the brackets, I need the mirror head.
