I thought the 2023 and up had the safety feature on the column shifter where it put itself in park if you opened the door or shut it off when not in park?
not that I need the feature, but I was testing it out in my driveway and it does not work. I thought they added this to the super duty?
Nearly positive that's an F150 and smaller thing....
...but that did not stop me from trying it on my 23 F250 and discovering that it stays in gear with the door open and your foot off the brake. It will happily run you over if you step out while it's running in reverse which might not be a bad thing if you are in the habit of getting out of a 4 ton vehicle while leaving it running in gear.
My 2021 will ding and say "Gearshift not in Park" or something like that on the screen, when you open the door w/ the truck NOT running but not in park. I am not sure if the parking brake has to be on for it to do it...that's usually when I make the mistake. Park, shut down, put the parking brake on, then hop out leaving it in drive. I don't think it gives the message if you open the door while in drive and the truck running but it probably does too I'd have to check.
