1994 F-250 5.0. When I turn the key to the on position I can’t hear the fuel pump priming. The car will start after it turns over a couple of times and runs and idles just fine with 30 PSI at the rail. According to the manual 30 PSI is at the bottom end of normal. If I disconnect the FPR the pressure goes up to 36 PSI, again normal according to the manual. Prior to putting in a new fuel pump, filter, FPR and all new injectors I was getting 20 PSI at the rail with a leaky injector so I know I’m moving in the right direction but I just don’t understand why it’s not priming when it was before I replaced those parts. I also feel like I should be getting higher pressure than 30 with a new pump.
What brand of pump is it? Does your truck only have 1 tank? Or 2?
The fuel pump is TruGrade from Autozone, they were the only parts store that carried the pump with the correct bevel on the bottom of the pump. And it’s a single rear tank.
It's not really possible for the pump to not run with key on but run with engine starting. I think maybe this one is just much quieter than your previous one? I would drain the pressure off the schrader valve on the fuel rail, then attach your gauge and turn the key to on, see if you have pressure or not. I agree 30 psi sounds low to me.
