transmission crossmember

can the trans xmember be removed on these trucks? ive seen and read ppl say yes and no
is it ok with new independent FS & boxing the frame?
Or just leave it in and build around it?

Your frame rails will twist with the weight of the cab if it is removed. I made mine removable ..


Also made it so it didn't hang as low but room for an AOD transmission..

No, it should not be removed and here is why:

I cut some clearance in mine to make room for newer transmission. Once I was sure it would clear, I welded it back together with some steel plate.

It's not just the cab mounts....don't forget the running board supports! These lever arms will twist the frame too (if you stand on them) without a cross member.
I cut and lowered the center section of the cross-member just enough to clear the tranny.
