2003 F150, 5.4 L Motor. Is it possible to have a bad head gasket LEAK OIL ? The leak is not from aRear Main Seal or Valve Cover Gaskets, but is sure enuff leaking. Thank you.
It was very common to see oil leaks from the head gaskets on some of the Mod engines. Maybe 15 years ago. We used to resurface several heads a month for a local Ford dealer when they were under warranty. It seems like they got it under control and we have not seen that in a while. Also after they were repaired they never came back. What happens is that both sides of the engine leak but the left side leaks at the front of the head and inside of the timing cover where it never hurts anything. The right head leaks at the back and the oil ends up outside of the engine.

Thank you so much Dave. Yes, the motors leaking on the passenger side, at the head/block closest to the firewall. Oil all over the starter down to dripping on the exhaust. Thanks again.
That's what they do and the only solution that I know of it to remove the cylinder head, resurface it and then reinstall it with a fresh gasket and head bolts. If I remember right the Ford dealership initially wouldn't resurface a 4.6 head and they would replace it with a new one under warranty. I guess that got too expensive and we cut a lot of those heads for them over the years with no problem at all. You're only talking about removing a few thousandths.
It is always the right side that causes the problem. Both heads are probably leaking but on the left side you never see it.
