Turn signal switch source

Looking at the wiring diagram, there's a difference in the steering column harness between trucks with or without cruise control. I'm guessing there has to be a difference in the turn signal switch to handle the added wires for the wheel-mounted controls. But I can't find anyone selling turn signal switches that say anything about cruise control. I see different switches for auto/manual and tilt/fixed, but nothing about cruise. Is it the same switch?

On a related note, when I tear into the column to replace the switch I'm going to replace the AT shift collar as well. Figure it can't hurt, and it isn't expensive. Are there any other fixes I might want to make while I'm in there? I don't know if I want to pull the column and rebuild the whole thing, that seems like a bit of a task. Plus I don't want to get into a full-blown restoration just yet. But I'd hate to miss the chance to polish a widget while I've got it apart. Then again, if rebuilding the column isn't a huge task involving presses, TIG torches, and ratchet straps maybe it would be worth it.

As often happens, I think I may have found the answer after posting this. Seems cruise control was only available with tilt steering. So the tilt/fixed distinction in the ads is, in effect, the distinction between cruise control or no cruise control. And today I learned my new truck has tilt steering.

Sometimes the internet is a wonderful place.

My 76 doesn't have tilt but did have cruise control. ( I removed most of it) I don't think the cruise wiring went thru the T/S switch. There have been numerous to threads on here detailing how to replace one.

On your '76, were the cruise control controls on the end of the turn signal lever ... or in the wheel horn pad area? I was just asking as mine is a '77, but his is a '78 I think.

There are no added wires for cruise in the switch area. Uses the horn wire a T harness jumper at signal plug in. No you don't need tilt for cruise. You may need to shop on evil B but make sure you have the correct part #. You might check for used on FTE.

Guess I'll have to check my column harness against pictures of what the vendors offer. Need to hook up a multimeter to test the switch. But since the lever won't even click into place it's a pretty safe bet the switch is mechanically shot.

Another potential option is refurbishing the existing switch. Is that even possible?
