My 2021 F-350 normally runs with headlights on. When I would stop the truck and pop into park, the lights would shut down. Put truck in gear and lights are back on. For the last couple of weeks they stopped going off when in park. Has me scratching my head - what did I do? Any ideas?

 

The DRL's, not the headlights, operate the way you've mentioned when the headlight switch is in the automatic position, Off when the truck is in park and On when it is in drive or reverse. Have you changed the headlight switch to a different position other than automatic?

 

Or maybe you have something covering
the ambient light sensor in the top of the dashboard? Like a hat?

 

Yes, it's the DRL's I'm referring to.

 

While I don't think so, I'll have to check. It is the time of the year when I have knitted caps all around. Thanks for the idea.

ADDED 1/21/24 You were right on the money! Cleaned off dashboard and things returned to normal. Thanks for the tip!
