I would start a new thread and try to get a clearer picture of your door tag and close ups of the engine. What transmission do you have and where are your rear mounts? Back of the transmission or on the bell housing.
There's a little mixing up there on your warranty plate, so let's see if we can make sense of it.
N70 = N700 gas
I = In 1963 this was the 302 4V Lincoln derived Y-block. Clearly not what you have as that engine had the distributor in the back. You may have a 330 2V MD as you have a 2V carb but do not have the bigger themostate housing from some HD engines. It appears you have FT exhaust manifolds. "I" was not used for '64. "1" was a diesel and your series is gas, so that's not it. Just a typo perhaps, or a hold over habit....
U = Louisville Assembly Plant
462092 = 1964 numerical series, possibly October 1963 production. That early production date could explain the typos/differences on the warranty plate.
181 = 181 inch wheelbase
A = Black
N707 = N700 gas, 25,500 lbs GVWR, air brakes for '64. For '63 it would be 24,000 lbs GVWR, which matches the plate. There is no evidence of air brakes showing. Do you have mechanical clutch linkage? I see only one master cylinder on the firewall--I take it that's for brakes. You should have a booster on the frame under the cab below the driver seat for hydraulics.
81B = This is upholstery and body/cab info. I do not have info for this year truck.
J = Clark model 250V five speed direct transmission.
G3E
G3 = Eaton model 16802 Two Speed Rear Axle / 6.50/9.04 / 17,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
E = Ford-Rockwell (Timken) model FC-901 front axle, 7,000 lbs capacity. (There is another axle for this code for '64 but it is only 6,000 lbs so it wouldn't get you to 24,000 GVWR)
24000 = 24,000 lbs GVWR--see note above at model number
163 3600 = 163 certified net HP @ 3600 RPM (this matches the power number for a 302 4V Lincon Y-block, see the notes above)
52 = Des Moines District Sales Office (this code changed to Dallas in '72)
No special order number.
So it appears to be a mixed up warranty plate, one of several from model change years. Your transmission and axles will have identifying info on them if need be. A closer picture of the intake manifold beside the carb will show if it is indeed an FT item. The distriubtor oil pump drive for a MD engine is 1/4". for a HD it is 5.16"
Lots can happen in 60 years, so that engine could be decades different, as could just about anything on that truck. Your engine wears car valve covers--no chrome as OEM on trucks. Could have been added....
So when I bought it. The previous owner said it had a 361 in it. The valve covers are most definitely an add-on they have Edelbrock stamped on them. As for the wheels I'll try to post a picture of the side view of it maybe you can tell me I think they're Dayton wheels. My title says 1963 for whatever that's worth
As for breaks yes there is a hydro vac system on it as for the clutch I'm not sure I haven't found a reservoir anywhere so I'm assuming it would have to be mechanical.
It runs great I'm having trouble shift 2nd and 3rd up or down I'm wondering if it needs a clutch adjustment. It has a dump bed on it and it works as well of the PTO. It's actually for sale it's got very minimal rust what it does have is surface rust only. Truly a beautiful machine for it's age
With October 1963 production, it could have been sold in 1963 and licensed as a '63. Happens, even with cars that were clearly different year to year.
A 361 would make sense as they were introduced in '64. (engine code K)
The middle axle was added in the field. Lots of time for changes.
Too bad about the confused warranty plate. Not the first though.....
Does it have a hoist on it?
How does it run?
I'm just curious if I'm shifting correctly or not. Does this trans have syncros or is it constant. I'm wondering if I should try floating the gears but don't want to destroy the transmission in the process. Double clutching doesn't seem to help 2nd and 3rd it shift 4th and 5th perfect. Maybe just worn out gears.
