Through a rather nice gentlemen, I have scored a 302 and a C-4. Pics to come tomorrow.
C-4 is an automatic, and seems in great condition. 302 looks good, though a bit dismantled. Only thikngs it didn't come with weresome hoses, the carb, and the exaust manifold.
Other than being in a few pieces, it looks like a solid engine.
Well as promised heres the photos. Both are '72. From what I see, it should bolt right up. close up's of the numbers if anybody wanted to try and decipher them.
I was told a '72 Maverick. but the only difference my eyes see are the dip-stick. Mine is pan mounted, this one seems to go to the housing. It came off the 302 pictured.
Does anybody have a floor jack I can borrow? I need one to switch the trans out. I seem to be missing a jack and my tire iron. I need to change the back tire with the spare, too.
Well, took apart the rear end of the c-4. Good lord. Strawberry milkshake crap came out. Once that finished, i could see dark gray stuff,a dn some white no pics because a) i put the back end on again to keep it from getting further messed up and b) my hands were really nasy and didnt wanna touch my $$$$ camera.
Now, the color means theres water in it? And if thats yes, then hell.
NOOOO!!!! Really? Metal? It was all liquid-ey. Like, no chunks or anything. And from what I can see, it even looks like it was rebuilt. The parts looks fairly new.
IWell, I only took the back part off. Basically, it's an extension, cause mny trucks trans doesn't have that extra bit. But it's just a bolted on part. I'll try and get pics of it. but like I said, from what I can see, stuff looks fairly new.
A few of those pistons look new as well, like really new. Something happened fairly serious to have caused that like sucking a few valves????? Looks like a potentially $$ project?? What's the plan?
I'm thinking someone started cleaning the tops of the pistons and only did a couple...if you look closely in the valve reliefs you'll see some old carbon that didn't quite get removed.
Odd that the #2 cylinder wall is rusty but the others don't seem to be.
The plan was to open the extra c-4, see what ti looks like ,and was hoping it could be bolted directly to the truck. Seems It should be able to, but I won't know for a while. gotta come up with some money so I can get the registration done. It's in my name, but it cant be on the street after the 31st. :/ sigh.
