Hello, I have a 2008 Ford F150 5.4 and replaced a bunch of timing components with OEM parts. I was wondering if its possible the chain plastic guides (ones that tensioner pushes) can be installed on the wrong side by accident. I know the guide with the little bump supposed to be installed on left driver side of engine but I'm not 100% I did it correct. I know I installed the tensioners themselves correct, but wondering what is the difference between the right and left tensioners as well.
Pictures would help.
Before & after pictures would be best but it sounds like you are already in the "after".
Is the truck doing (or not doing) something that would make you think you did it wrong?
FWIW this is what mine looks like:
I'm also going off memory (this was 4yr ago) but isn't the guide on the passengers side longer? I think if you reversed them you would see something is not right.
THis Was mine from A month ago and this one made the 6th 5.4 I have done timing sets on but cant remember what varations are between the two guides never really thought about checking what the diffference was just matched up the side and went with it sorry I cant be more help
