Ok just got it all it back together after replacing phasers, chains, tensioners, guides, vct solenoids, the whole timing kit. Filled my oil filter up with 5w30 double checked my oil drain plug, since I dropped the pan and cleaned it out, started to fill up with antifreeze, got the first gallon in, started to top it off and all of a sudden it sounded like a river underneath my truck, got back under the truck and antifreeze is pouring out from somewhere on the passenger side above the oil pan, I still have the fenderwell off but can't see where it's coming from. I went through and double checked everything before filling with fluids. I'm so pissed I have no idea what or where or how it happened or what caused it nor how to fix it any ideas would be greatly appreciated right now. I thought I had it whooped finally and then this crop. Thanks in advance
Sorry I forgot to mention it's an 08 5.4 3valve. I thought about the freeze plugs or the 2 "O" rings in the back of the water pump under the intake manifold. I mean after the first gallon of antifreeze went in no problem when I started with the 2nd gallon it was pouring out as fast as it went in so I'm leaning more towards the freeze plugs cuz I just don't see it gushing out like it was because of an O ring blown out. The engine started and ran beautifully besides that. Would the engine still turn over if a freeze plug was blown out? Thank you for your thoughts
The engine does not care about the freeze plugs as they are not part of the engine that makes it run. The freeze plugs are there to protect the block from freezing and breaking/cracking.

Any idea where I could find a diagram of the location of the freeze plugs? I've got a Chiltons book and still can't find a pic of the exact locations, I've been told there's some on the front, some on the sides, and some in the back of the engine but that doesn't tell me much. Also, I've been told if it is the freeze plugs they've probably deteriorated over time and I'd just assume replace them all at the same time because there will be more to follow if I didn't.?..? And another question, I'm not sure if it's personal preference or not but which is better brass or steel? And why? Thanks so much for the insight.
Brass or steel is an old question as to where you live. Depends on what part of the world you live in as both are affected by salt air, heat, freezing cold.
Most people use brass because they will give in very cold weather where steal will not. Steal makes a tighter seal. Now mind you to put some permatex # 2 on either one of them.
Ever look at the brass things on a boat? Steal rust, but brass last a long time. https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...0+5.4+location
