Well, my rear defroster has worked sometimes, and not worked other times. Yesterday I went to look at it, and couldn't figure anything out. Well, today it works just fine.
So, my new theory is that the failure is in the connector -- specifically the 2-wire connector behind the passenger side rear seat. Anybody else seen this?
I'm thinking I'll just replace the connectors with something else like PowerPoles.
I imagine there's a switch back there somewhere to tell the controls to go/stay off if the window is even barely cracked open. I'd see if I could find it and and check.
Yeah, all this happens with with the window closed, and without me moving the window. I do keep checking to see whether the window movement makes a difference, and today it acted differently. Today when the rear defroster was on, I could open and close the window, and the "rear defroster" light turned on and off based on whether the window was closed -- exactly what I would expect.
I'll keep watch on it - I really do think my rear window wiring harness connector is the problem here. We'll see.
