1) Seems like that $500+ Mongoose adapter and a $22 3-day subscription to MotorcraftService might be worth my cash. No need to head to the dealership for simple things.
Sure...Ford should be paying for the "required" stuff they need to do like updates. The worst part is the dealers aren't going to pay a service tech to take up a bay for 3-4 hours to update the modules so you can get the OTA updates. Not to mention the time you need to wait till an appointment is open, then wait till they get the truck in the bay. See #1 above.
Did you just try this online or on the app???
I bet if you CALLED the dealer, they will have an opening sooner, or offer a remote repair service.
if you call this dealership they give you their 1-800 number which they out source their appt bookings to.
even if you walking and ask them to scroll for an appt …they will just give you theirv1-800 number…..then go back to their bull**** session….service bays pretty much empty.
I tried calling a dealership last week that several people recommended and everytime I got transfered to Service it went to someone's voice-mail or a generic voice-mail. After the 4th call not getting a live body I left a voice-mail and never got a call back.
I have a 2019 F350 that had a couple of minor issues, and was coming up to the 36k miles. I figured I’d just take it in for a day in the shop for the minor stuff. I do all my own maintenance so it’s never been to the dealer for work.
I called the service dept (at the dealer I purchased from), and they told me they were 2-3 weeks out, but I’d have to leave it there while we were waiting for an opening! I was very shocked. I told the service writer, why does my truck have to be sitting in their back lot for 2-3 weeks waiting for an opening for minor work? He said that’s the system that works best, in case they have a spare hour and can get to it sooner. I told him that may work best for them, but it sure doesn’t work best for the customer! I asked him to just put my truck in the rotation, and I’ll bring it down the day before it’s due for service. Service boy said nope, it doesn’t work that way.
Thank goodness for a small town dealer where they know their customers! I have literally left it there at night with the key fob in the console (they have my code). When they see it the next morning they’ll call and ask what I need.
Call various local Ford dealerships and see if they offer a mobile service for that type of repair. I had a local dealership send a technician to my house when I had my 20E07 recall done.
I am experimenting with that mobile service for the windshield wiper recall. They are supposed to be here tomorrow. I been so busy with work and farm I couldn’t never get it on the schedule for going into the dealership itself. Same here it’s like 10 to 30 days. So I just kept putting it off. Then they asked if I would consider the mobile option. I said yeah I can work at the house and not miss a beat.
