My 1998 F-150 4x4 is flashing an air bag code 52. Could someone tell me what this is and what do I do to reset it. This started after I was checking fuses under the hood!
You can get a code 52 if you remove the fuse for the airbag system with the ignition on. The system has sensed a loss of voltage and turned on the light.
You can try resetting it by pulling a battery terminal off and leaving it for 10 minutes or so.
Hi Racerguy and thanks for some help - but I still have a problem.
I removed the positive cable from the battery for 1 hour - the first time and that didn't clear it and then I removed it for 3 hours with the headlights switched on and it still didn't clear it. Any other way to reset it??
If that didnt clear it you will have to take it in and get it cleared with a scan tool. I'm not sure if your local Autozone or whatever will do that but your dealer can for sure.
I had this problem with mine after I replaced a fuse. I read in here somewhere that it takes the airbag module 256 cycles to reset the light. You have turn the key on and off 256 times for it to clear. When you turn it on, let the module go thru its complete self test. That is untill the airbag light stops flashing, then shut it off and turn it on again. It takes a while, but it worked for me and I didnt have to pay the dealer to scan it.
Thanks for the reply. Believe it or not, the light just cleared itself two days ago. I was just about ready to carry it somewhere and have them work on it. What you advised me to do - makes sense! Again, thanks a lot. I posted this on another F150 site two months ago, and NEVER got the first reply.
