New member here from Sweden (Europe). I purchased a 1969 F100 last year and am doing a bit of work to it to freshen it up. The car originally came with a 360 that I am currently replacing with a SCAT stroked 390 (444 CI) and will post about that separately. As the engine build progresses, I am doing a bit of cosmetic work to freshen it up and have ordered a bunch of smaller parts from Dennis Carpenter (weather stripping, new brake lights etc). As you will see from the picture below, the prior owner removed the rear step bumper. I find the truck looks a bit naked with no bumper and would like to install a sleeker chrome bumper. Does anyone know if this type of bumper (https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/tru...-style-side-ch) will fit without major issues (I assume I will need to purchase the bracket kit)?
And a couple more pics of the truck in its current guise:
Welcome to FTE!
Nice looking truck.
Yes, that bumper is correct for your truck, and you will need the brackets. Other members have said they had to modify the brackets some to get a good fit.
I could buy it here in the states and ship it to you. How bad could the shipping costs be?
I’m not looking to make money on it, I’d do it just to see it happen. I used to have to have my cousin in Liverpool buy my triumph parts and then ship them to me in New York so I know your pain.
Hmmm so have run into a bit of a snag. Dennis Carpenter won't ship the bumper to Europe as it's classified as 'oversized freight'. Any ideas?
Kind regards,
Alex
Is there an American car club near you that would be willing to help? Many times people or groups have connections with containers that send parts to Europe all the time from the States. I know a couple of guys from the 48-56 forum that live in Germany, England and Denmark who have a US address they have parts sent to that end up at their door in a couple of weeks, and it saves them a ton in shipping costs.

Thank you - that is a very generous offer and very much appreciated! I could arrange for shipping to your address and would then cover the shipping costs to the EU. Happy to continue the discussion by PM.

Not that I am aware of I'm afraid. I may give a call to my mechanic to see if he knows of anything similar. Thanks for the tip!

And a few updates from my engine builder (old school guy that races a Ford Galaxie among other things).
Some pictures from the build process:
Short video of first start and running in the new cam - has quite a nice chop to it (engine has the wrong valve covers and carb but that was rectified later):
Some sprucing up of valve covers and air filter (all kept looking as stock as possible):
And back in the car:
For those of you interested in the engine specs, they are as follows:
- Headwork includes 427" valves, K-lines
- SCAT stroker taking overall CI to 444
- Thumpr hydraulic cam
- Dual plane intake
- Edelbrock carb
Based on my engine builder, it should be good for 400-450 HP and similar torque. Will update with some better pics once I get the car back from his workshop (he is some ways away).
Been a while since I updated but I've had the truck back a week or so with the 'new' engine. It sounds fantastic at idle (particularly from the outside) but I've got pretty horrific resonance at certain low speeds (particularly when letting off the throttle e.g., when rolling down the road). I don't mind a bit of a rumble but this is too much, and I don't know anybody that enjoys in-cabin resonance.
The exhaust that the engine fabricator installed is Sanderson shorty headers into 2.5" with an X-pipe under the cab into a Flowmaster Delta 50-series on each side, and an exit just infront of the rear wheels. Any tips on quieting it down and getting rid of the dreaded resonance? The mufflers are (just) behind the cab but maybe moving them even further back would help (and having the exhaust exit out the rear). I've also seen that flowmaster offer a separate resonator and was wondering whether anyone had experience with that on their setups. I'd like to stick with flowmaster if possible as I like the chambered sound but the current setup is just not working.
Appreciate any tips and I'll add a few more updates in the coming days.
