Lowering my Excursion
I know an Excursion isn't the most trendy thing to lower but I like the look of the few that I have seen and the whole family can go cruising with me. I have a 2005 Excursion, 5.4, 2wd. Yes it is the little engine but I have a great riding cruiser. I want to lower it about 5 inches and put it on 20" D-Town Smoothies. This will put the wheel well opening right at the top of the tire. Doing a rear leaf flip, I can get 5 inches of drop but the axle tubes would only have about 1/2" of clearance to the frame rail. I'm open to doing a C-notch but the rear floor is only about 1/2" above the frame rail. I would like to keep the 3rd row seat and not raise a section of the floor. Lowering with longer shackles I can only get about 2" lower because anything longer hits the floor. Should I look at spring with less arch to them? Should I do the axle flip and C-notch with additional lowering blocks (8" total) and then do a 3" body lift to gain floor clearance?
For the front I'll be getting drop I-beams.
