fuel sending unit filter help

I have a 1989 F350 7.3 with rear plastic tank, upon changing my sending unit float I discovered the filter on the supply tube was missing, I've spent numerous hours on-line searching with no luck identifying the correct style. On-line there are pics of a black plastic funnel shape with wire mesh and others are socks. Does anyone know which is correct?
Also on-line pics show the return line with red/orange rubber boot which I'm assuming is a baffle to prevent bubbles, I'm looking for help finding both.
My sending unit appears to be specific to 87-89 f250/350 7.3 or 6.9 rear plastic tank only. My local ford dealer gave me E8TZ-9275-C per my vin as the correct part number for my sending unit and claims the sending units came with the filter & baffle and therefore they were not available to purchase separately. Any help would be appreciated.

The attached pic is a NOS sending unit which does not fit my tank but has the filter and red rubber check valve that I'm assuming are the ones I need

The filter you mention is commonly referred to as a "shower head" on this forum. It is readily available, sorry I don't have any links handy...

The red/orange boot I have no clue, don't hear about that one... I think its more meant as a check valve, to keep air from working back up into the return line. I'm not sure how necessary it is or what to replace it with if missing.

This is a picture of my new OEM fuel pick up, it's from a 94 idi,

I don't know the answer to your question but I'm not aware OEM rear tank was plastic, could it be it was already replaced ?

These guys have plastic tanks, maybe they have what you need for senders.

Iirc 9J306 is the partial part number for the shower head at Ford. The duck bill valve is a check valve so the return doesn’t siphon back to the tank like the guys above have said. You need the shower head, as the socks are more a gas engine thing I think.

I’ve heard of plastic factory tanks, but have never seen it. They are not common, and it’s too bad. Little rocks between the skid plate and metal tanks rub through.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
90Ford73 actually I'm a fan of the plastic tank it will never RUST inside, I've never heard of rocks getting lodged and making holes, I have several ford tractors with plastic tanks that are exposed to rocks and dirt never had a hole but with the right circumstances anythings possible hopefully you didn't jinks me. if anyone else needs the shower head its available from ford part # E5TZ-9J306-BA the check vale is also available I will post part the number once I receive it.

Sorry I meant rocks rubbing through the metal tanks and creating a leak. I lost a rear tank because of a pinhole lol. I’m also a fan of plastic tanks, Ford went plastic anyways so it’s too bad they didn’t do it earlier.

Make sure you get ONLY ford showerheads, the aftermarket ones dont last. The red rubber is not really necessary.

Yep, The plastic tanks come on the Chassis/cabs , mine is a '89 F-350 and has one too, and yes that shower head is in there, but the one on your image is for a metal tank one.

Bart f-350, How can you tell the difference between a steel & plastic tank shower head? Do you know if this part number E5TZ-9J306-BA is for steel or plastic tank?

I'm sorry That I don't know.
when I took out these assy's this summer, they were whole, but as soon I touched them they fell apart in 1000 pieces.
but the two of them really looked the same. I guess the only difference might be Eventually the diameter from the pipe they were attached to?
maybe anyone here can supply a exploded view from a parts book or so?

good luck.
