Installing new ABS module with an ECM tune
All this happned on vacation, ao im stuck in AZ until this is resolved
Hey yall, I have a '16 f350. Tune and deleted. Took a road trip, out of nowhere my dash lit up. Traction control light, ABS light, "HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT" "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" "CHECK BREAK SYSTEM" also noticed occasionally my breaks would feel like they're locking up and it would JERK my steering wheel to the left. So hard I had to anticipate over correcting it while doing 75mph on a 2 line highway to avoid going into the oncoming lane. a bit after that I noticed a loud screeching noise very prevalent @ 25-30mph. It sounds like it's coming from a wheel beacuse the noise has a rythym like it's on a revolution that changes w my speed
took to for dealer here in AZ. Say I need a new ABS module ($1200) proceeds to call me 2 days later and say they need it over the weekend beacuse they're not sure how to tune the ABS module without over writing my tune back to stock (throwing my truck into limp mode) which would leave me having to now drive to Texas to go to my tuner and get it retuned...
From what I've read this seems like a common problem so I'm pretty confident if there was no way around flashing it to stock I'd see alot more posts from guys with tunes having rhe same problem
anyone here have any information I can relay to the dealer before I end up in a wreck or stranded in limp mode?
thank you all in advance

Get that out of tour system big guy? Would have taken less effort to post nothing instead of being a stuck up ***** with a **** answer for no reason bud
anyone have an answer that doesn't involve hating your own life so much you have to go out of your way to be a little ***** for a hit of dopamine?
two years ago I had the bright idea to fluid film my truck. First drive after that I had all the alerts you have except for “check brake system”. I figured it was the fluid film on the abs sensors (changes capacitance) so I power washed all the abs sensors and wires associated.
all the errors were gone.
If it were me, I would check the sensors and wires for first, grease, crud and if there power wash then clean.
I'd imagine you'll have to buy an EZ Lynk, out of Canada from a delete company there now that the tuners here have been fined by the EPA, and then get the actual flash tuner unit to load the tune that's currently on the truck to it or to their Cloud. Do a search online and you'll see tuners in Canada come up. I'm no expert but this is what I've learned from guys here... Or one may have already sent you a PM.

Maybe I came down a bit harsh on you, but you are hardly the first guy coming here bitching because of circumstances like this. It's going to cost you a lot to resolve this, and you are stuck in a position where you really have no choice. Your other option is to pay to return the truck to stock, and forget tuning all together.
i dont hate my life, and sorry to hurt your feelings. Toughen up a bit. You play, just have to be ready to pay. That said, I hate that you are in this position where you don't have the tuner anymore(I'm making that assumption, otherwise you wouldnt be here asking for this help). The party that sold it to you or traded it in is who you should be pissed at.

Well, your first mistake was taking a Deleted truck to a Dealer. Once you remove the factory tune, never take it to a dealer, but to an independent garage. They are just as equipped to replace parts as the dealer is, and an ABS module is just that, a part. First, you described a screeching, well, what caused it? Did a wheel lock up? ABS wont cause that, unless you heard the ABS motor spin up which makes that clicking noise, but a bad hose will. Did the ABS light come on, or just those warnings?
Reason I say this is because any shop with a bi-directional scan tool can install the ABS module and program it without affecting the PCM. The Dealers IDS will rewrite a bunch of modules with updated codes because that is what IDS does. Your best bet is to find someone else to work on it who wont affect the PCM, and stay away from dealers.
