I've looked into a fiberglass version (could be wrapped in aluminum or chrome or gold even) but it looks pretty difficult and definitely not profitable. I wish I were wrong about that and would welcome being shown the error of my ways.
Folks on this site have extra grills sitting around. I suggest the trade/sell thread if you are ok with 7 out of 10.
I restored mine last year. 80 grit up to 2000. It sucked. A lot. Scratches come out but gashes do not. Your picture is not promising. I don’t see you liking the results.
I have a 7 of 10 in NC. Rich has a few. I’m sure others near you may, too. Where are you located?
I’m located in NE Iowa. I’m going to a friends place this weekend who might have one hopefully. If so I’m gonna try and snag one if not more. I like to hoard parts but I’m young yet so my stash isn’t huge.
I tried the aftermarket. Looked great. Made in Taiwan. Didn’t fit well. Considering a decent NOS is $3k-$4k and hard to find, restoration is probably the most cost effective way to get a grille that looks good as new.
they told me they can fix just about any dent or divet. Anything repairs requiring a weld will be noticeable so tears, cracks and holes can be troublesome. They have lots of eye candy on their website.
