Time to throw it away then, as it's not OEM. These trucks were/are crude, but they were never built with black iron pipe fittings connected to a plate held-on with a stove bolt.
I agree that it could have been part of an aftermarket transmission cooling sensor system, but it's not OEM.
If you're doing a Restoration or Preservation, pitch-it. But if you want to go down some sort of automotive/archeological rabbit hole (been there, done that), have at it! You never know what you'll find....
