Heres the real shocker, I won't be getting a Ford this time around. I have been looking at the one and only diesel I have liked since I first drove it. A Dodge. I am a huge fan of the Cummins diesel. I wish Ford offered it in an F250 but they don't.
The Cummins is a nice power plant, I would like one of the 24 valve ones to play with. However the truck is full of problems. I know many Dodge owners trapped with an upside down loan on a truck they hate with venim.

Well Shoooooot - we sure are going to miss you Matt!
But don't worry - I'll salt some buzzard breast for you and leave it in the root cellar so you won't have to go kill something to eat when you do finally arrive!

I can't wait until I get one. As far as problems go, they can't be any worse than my truck now. It's been a dream truck for me, have always wanted one since 97.
I know what you mean JR....
Im looking at a 2001 F-350 4 door Dually 2x4
and a 1999 Dodge w/ a 24 valve Cummins, extended cab dually
They want 11k for the dodge, and 15k for the Ford
The ford has the drivers front door kinda crushed in on the corner where it shuts against the back door (kind of a turn off)
and I dont know how many miles are on either of the trucks
Id go w/ the dodge, but Id rather have the Ford
If I find a spare $17K lying around anywhere.. I will be buying a 24 valve cummins, and fitting it in one of my trucks... With a little effort, and that amount of money I can get one fitted, tuned and finished, mated to an Alinson tranny, and running over 600hp with 1100 ft lb.. That is what I particularly want for my sleeper truck. The probable quarter mile time will be the high tens..
Luckily I have 2 PSDs in the family, so I would still be able to post in the PSD forum.. But, finding the $17K will be a challenge.

I would rather have a Ford but the Powerstroke just doesn't turn my crank. Thats also what I am looking for a 24 valve, just not the dually.
The powerstroke has plenty of power I think
I know a guy that has one and he pulled a gooseneck 24 ft camper, and a 18 foot trailer with 4 4 wheelers on it, and it was running away from me and my buddy up a big mountain.
I had a 350 GMC fullsize truck pulling 2 4 wheelers, and my buddy was empty in his 300 Inline 6
So thats plenty enough power for me.
The new 24 valves I havent ran against, but the 12 valves... Ive seen em get blowed away by Powerstrokes
But to each there own, and goodluck with the new truck
All I want for christmas is about ten coats of sky-blue paint, an equal number of white flames coming over the hood and fenders, all wrapped up in another ten to twenty in clearcoat. That would be just fine Santa......oh, and a classic Ford hauler fer the `51 you`re going to apply it to.
money because my family members dont think junk yard scavenging for stuff is fun, or because when i talk about making my 78 bigger, louder, or shiner they just nod their head because only a few have a clew of what im talking about and they always tell me Im not allowed to modify their late model ford trucks (my entire family drives nice ford trucks at x-mas you could mistaken my grandmas house for a ford dealer because there is like 15 1999 and up ford trucks at the house)
