It's OK. The copy I have came with Windows Vista 64-bit. It works faily well but you need to configure the "view" to have the Explorer bar. I don't really like the positioning of the "Favorites" and all that. (On the right side of the window) I don't like the crap at the bottom of the screen either, but that maybe a Vista feature and not necessarilly an MSIE 7.0 deal. I was able to import my cookies and favorites from MSIE 6.0.2 without any problems. Again, you need to configure the view to show you the "classic" tools so you can get to "file" "Import" etc... FTE comes up fine on it. That all that counts, huh?
Why would anyone want a beta release of ANY MS product? I mean they are some of the most buggy, useless and frustrating programs on the planet in final release form... I can't imagine them in the beta stage.
I'm using it right now..... time will tell but it seems like a good improvement over IE 6, but I've been using firefox for a while and don't think I'll switch, Firefox still rules IMHO
I will never use IE as my main browser again. I encourage everybody to try FireFox. FF uses about half the memory of IE and loads pages a lot faster. I will keep IE around just incase I encounter a page that doesn't work with FireFox, but until Microsoft revamps their brower and re-writes the browsing engine they will never have a fast, efficient and secure browser.
I am giving it a try, but miss all of my FireFox extensions and cusomizing options. Mouse Gestures, Customize Google, Stumble etc..., you wouldn't think them vital, but they really have changed the way I use my browser. Combine that with it being slower and I don't see it sticking around on my system.
How do you go about getting a BETA version of Vista? I have always wanted to havea working copy of something like that to piddle with and note all the problems. I dont know if you have to be a member of something or what. I certainly dont want to have to pay for it, especially if im using it to test it out for them.
Beta testers are the backbone of new programs, i was around to be one of the first beta testers from aol. Let me tell you i dont miss that. AOL still sucks if you ask me and it still takes over your system and trys to run it for you. i liked being a beta tester but it is time consuming and gets you in the mood to smash things sometimes.
