pressure plate change

I'm looking at a 11.5" pressure plate on ebay for my F250 390.
It is unfortunately a "D4TZ-7593-a" which is for a 1975-76 truck.
My truck is a couple years earlier.
I don't see anything obviously different between my old crummy long-style plate, and the one shown for the 75-76 models.
The flywheel didn't seem to change in those years, so I imagine the mounting holes would be the same.
Is it possible that the newer model is simply an "improved" version of the old one? And useable?

Thank you, Jeff

I think your fine. I might would compare mounting holes and plate depth, and finger tip height if I was concerned. Any small, even seemingly insignificant change would likely generate a new number.

The long style works fine, I have a Ram brand one in my 428 CJ high boy and it holds just fine.

There's no difference between a 73-76 clutch, probably the same prior and post as well.

But the cast iron bellhousing does limit your clutch options. Centerforce told me I couldn't use their clutches, but I suspect with a little grinding you could. .I didn't figure it was worth the hassle. .
