Primary coolant loop diagram

Does anyone here have a diagram of the coolant path for a 17-19 6.7? Google renders less than useful images.

Bumping once, before letting it vanish......

Man, this forum used to be a place for tech info.

Thank you, but that just shows the external components, not the actual pathway through the block and components.

I'm trying to determine if an EGR block-off or pass-through is better. At the same time not looking for an opinion, just the facts ma'am, to make my own informed decision.

Maybe you should have specified that in your first post….

My apologies, communication is hard and frustrating.

Thank you once again, this is a new diagram that I had not been able to find. However, I still think it does not show all the pathways (just shows the conceptual route). Somewhere about the areas marked 3 and 5, there has to be an alternate route for flow, or else the block off plates would stop all flow, and that would not work.

I'm thinking the passage size is what determines the amount of flow directed into the EGR cooler, as it must be in parrallel, and not series, in the coolant flow path to work. It still seems a blocking of the flow at the EGR cooler would reduce overall flow rate through the entire system (from a reduction of size in the passageways at that point). However, the vast majority of plates on the market are block-offs. So it has to work, the question is how well. For the flow blockage to work as well, the other passageway has to be not reduced in size at that point.

Alternatively, if the flow rate with a block off rate is still more then the max rate at the thermostat location, 'tis a moot point. In other words, if any other location in the entire system has a lower flow rate, the lowering of the rate at/near the EGR cooler would not have an effect on systems cooling capacity.

Sure is. Imagine how much clarity could have been achieved had the words in bold been in the original request…

I don’t have an exact answer for your question without reading further details on the 6.7 cooling system. I’ll post more info when I have it.

There are threads discussing using a delete with passthrough or not. I have never had plans to do an EGR delete but this thread had me do a quick search. Really all I could find was that some say they experience lower coolant temps with a passthrough but that basically either will work and it doesn't really matter.

either/or. some companies only sell it with the pass-thru now anyways though. a truck i allegedly drive came with pass thru plates even though I didnt specify which one to send.

i had asked about the difference and the answer 4wd6.7L gave is what I received as well.

Actually finding one that has the bypass is difficult now. All the mom and pop shops have stopped making them, they were the CNC fancy ones. The complete kits you get now have the block-off plates and the EGR delete kits are almost entirely block-off plates.

Looks like the one I found is made in china and shipped out of Canada. Did find a nice one made in Canada but they would not ship to USA.

To end the thread, the block off plates do decrease the coolant flow, but not to a damaging level. If you do need max, or close to max, cooling capacity use the flow thorugh style. And, that is all I have to say about that.

I don't have one handy, but if you give the loop and the number and I'll tell you what the part is.
