I just want to thank everyone for the help provided when I had questions about this project. 1966 F 250 flare side. I thought I would share some pictures to show you how close I am to being on the road. I just got new tires for Christmas, so I have to get the wheels painted and get them mounted. Also waiting for a local guy to upholster my seat. Everything else was done in-house, even the paint, with a good bit of help from my son. Never painted anything before so this was quite a learning experience. Again, thank you.
Congratulations on the paint, looks great. Which trans did you put behind the Cummins... It looks like stock Ford axels, so the ratio's would suck for a low rpm diesel... And while I'm asking, what did you choose for steering. Power? Cross steer or inline?
I'm going to guess the rear axle has been changed out or something different there. Brake drums of that style are not what a 1966 F250 4x4 would have had originally. Sweet truck with the 6BT transplant. Great job on the paint, too!
I have the NV4500HD Trans. I did put a Saginaw box from a 72 dodge truck, see attached picture. I kept the stock axles and added power brakes, stops really well. The rears are 3:73.
Dang, great minds think a lot alike... I also used a dodge box in mine. Mine is turned 90°, I eventually want cross steer.
It will be interesting to see where the .73 OD tops out on the highway with 3.73 axels.
I kept the Allison 545AT that came with my motor, and with 3.08 axels I'm done at 80mph.
Looks great, color appears to be period correct Harbor Blue. I like the upgrades, will be a very capable vehicle in today's world. IMO, not too late for the icing on the cake, a little detail work to bring out the design in Ford fashion.
