Power steering pump

I am in the market for a new power steering pump for my 1999 f250. I’m assuming motorcraft is the way to go for a direct replacement, just looking for opinions and options

This kind of depends on whether your wanting a direct replacement or steering that actually works. If direct replacement then then Motorcraft is probably a sure bet. If you want to be able to turn from a dead stop or IDK use the steering wheel and brakes at the same time, and both of them actually work, then you'll need to go aftermarket or make your own pump mount. There's a new kit put out by a member that is well spoken of, I'll link a couple threads to get you started if that's how you choose to go.

idk if I’m really interested in doing a full on conversion…. I am running 33” tires and don’t plan on going any larger since I tow so heavy all the time. My power steerings has usually always been sufficient for what I do, until
lately it has gotten weak and has a groan to it…. Sometimes I have to rev the engine some when sitting still to get it to turn well, not much of a problem since my truck is manual. I just didn’t know if there was a company that made one better than oem and was direct fit

Used to be.... Motorcraft parts "sold by" and "shipped by" Amazon were genuine. That was 3+ years ago though. Unless there is a dealer or reseller that you can verify selling as a third party on Amazon, I would skip it.

Places like Rock Auto are generally trusted sources, but not as much as somewhere like Riffraff.

Something like this might be worth sticking with "buy once, cry once".

Have a look on rockauto. Im in the same boat with a leaky pump. Mine is a gasser though. Personally Id not buy parts from scamazon anymore. They to often say "this fits" when its nowhere close. If anything else verify the exact part number from ford before buying from baldys website.

Have you tried a fluid flush and upgrade to synthetic? Considered swapping to a dedicated power steering fluid?

Need? No I wouldn't say they are required if yours are still looking good. You may want to source some of those Teflon or nylon or whatever they are seals though. My experience is when I disturb the hoses a seal leak isn't far off.
