Disassembling multipart rims

I recently bought a few snap ring Ford truck rims. I bought them from an online auction that was nearby and they went cheap but they are old rims and had old rubber and were rusty. I had to take them apart to see their true condition. I had no idea on how to disassemble them. These are solid ring rims. not the dreaded Widow Makers that no one should work on. I did a bunch of web searching and many of the posts I found have contributions by our own Stu but non had any instructions on how to disassemble them.

I found this video that gave a simple description of the procedure for disassemble the wheels. As always, it's always dangerous to work on any type of wheel and this procedure should only be done on totally deflated wheel. Two of the wheels I have had completely destroyed tires that weren't holding air. The third also have bad rubber but still had a little air so I wrapped a heavy chain through two of the hand holes and got the rest of the air out. If this was a fully inflated tire I would have taken it to a tire shop with a cage to have it deflated.

Thanks Bob for the link. The subject of these solid ring rims has been more common here lately over on the <1947 forum because there are no good replacement solutions for these late 1920s/1930s era trucks. The rims and tires of that era were simply narrower and/or, like your wheels, have a different bolt pattern than 1940s era locking side rim style and later tubeless varieties. Stu

Stu, like I said, I searched for information and disassembling these wheels found post on the 1947 and down forum and on the Ford barn but none had any details, only questions on how to do it. I'll post the link on the 1947 board. I found it very useful and once I did one it was fairly easy.
