I was tearing into my 2014 6.7 to locate a coolant leak that I thought was from the crossover gasket when I saw that this head bolt directly behind the driver side crossover mount was loose, wasn't even finger tight. There was a good amount of build up around it and the leak looks like it is coming from the bolt and possibly the head in that area. Does anyone know if this is safe to just thread back in and if so what the torque requirement is?
I would be dumb enough to try. What are you going to loose? If it works you are back running,if it still leaks you will be doing a tear down and head job and gasket anyway.

Yes, they stretch. Generally you torque them to 35lb then maybe say 60 or so then rotate them 90degrees with out stopping or jerking. then another 45degrees. Also I believe you are supposed to lubrcate it with clean oil. Every manufacturer has their own range and procedures. Been a while since I have done it.
All I know is it makes a man out of you on a big Diesel engine.
