Help with (Old School) wheel sizes?

Alright I know the wheel threads have been talked about a lot so don't beat on me too hard. I am in search of old school wheels like the late 90's/early 2000's Centerlines, Boyd Codington, Budniks, and so on. I remember seeing tones of the wheels back in the day but they are very hard to come by nowadays. These companies need to offer these wheels again. I am currently looking at two sets,
1st set is 18x9 with 4.75 backspacing.
2nd set is 20x8 with -12mm offset.
My question to you guys is, how far will these wheels stick out past the fenders with 35x12.50 tires? If anyone has pictures that would be a big help.

Not sure what your stock wheels are

But let’s go with an 8” wide wheel with a +40mm offset

setup 1 with 18x9 4.75 backspacing translates to something like a -6mm offset….this wheels gonna stick out about 2.3” further than a stock wheel. Plus depending on how much wider the 12.50 is than your stock tire. It’ll add a little more total poke…….

setup 2 at 20x8 and -12mm offset is gonna stick out about 2” further (plus tire again)……this wheel would simply have identical stance to a 9” wide wheel and a zero offset if you want something you can find easier.

Thank you for the reply. Currently have the factory 18" wheels with 35's. It's a tough decision when I am not able to actually put them on the truck to visually see. When shopping for new wheels at a store they would mock one up and give you the visual that way. I really like the looks of these older wheels. Very clean, no bolts on the outer lip, no words engraved on the outer lip, and normal sizes to choose from. O' and polished and chrome. It's just too bad that no one is making them anymore.

just find a nice 18x9 or 20x9 with zero offset you’ll get the look you want and there are still some chrome/polished/brushed wheels out there without all the fake rivets etc on the lip

search the customoffsets website for good examples

Since it is 8 inches wide and -12 offset it will tuck in about 1/4” more inward than a 9 inch 0 offset.

The other will stick out about 1/2” more compared to that 8 inch -12 if @Rwhjr ’s math is correct.

As mentioned you want to stay around the dimensions of 9 inch wheels with 0 offset if you are worried about hanging out with 12.50 wide tires. They are about flush at the top of the fender.

I would look at a 295/70/18 in a taller size like the Cooper AT3 or a 305/70/18. Will tuck in a little more. You can do the math.

Those 20x8 could be tough because some tire shops may not mount a 12.50 tire on them. You could also look at the 295/65/20 or 285/65/20 if that is a problem.

Dont forget about matching/exceeding your rear GAWR rating and any tpms adjustments, especially if its a 350SRW.

Both of those wheels should work though.

Thanks for the reply, all good information. After searching around, these new wheel manufacturers don't offer anything close to what was available in the late 90's early 2000's looks and quality. I really don't want painted black, anodized blue, dimples on the lip, fake bolts on the lip, 24", 22", 12 wide, 14 wide, plastic center caps, and a bunch of words on the lip of the wheels. Why cant anyone offer a Weld EVO Velocity, CenterLine Blackfoot, CenterLine Eclipes, or Boyd Codington 8 lug Forged series? Well most likely going to go with the factory ford 2008-2010 20" and have them refinished.

Raceline Renegade or Raceline Rockcrusher? Have sizes and offsets that work in 17s. Works ok if you have an f250 or reduced rear gawr f350.

You also have procomp wheels.

You also have these. Maybe stick with a 305/65/18, 295/70/18, or 305/70/18. Can get a higher load rated tire in the 18s.

They have a few others that would probably work.
