C6 modified or flaw?
Hi, had this truck 66 F100 since October and I’m wondering if this behavior is a flaw or a previous modification.
my C6 transmission is unusual in that if I place the unit in “2” while stopped it will start off in “2”. Most auto transmissions I’ve had if placed in 2 while stopped they will automatically start in “1”, move to 2nd and not move to 3rd unti shifted to “D”.
Operation while in “D”, is completely normal.

How about neither modified nor flawed?
When a driver manually selects second gear on a C6 transmission, the transmission will start in and hold that gear.
It won’t automatically shift through the gears as it would in Drive mode.
This allows the driver to have more control over the vehicle’s performance, particularly in conditions where lower gear operation might be beneficial, such as driving on steep hills or towing heavy loads.
When a driver manually selects second gear on a C6 transmission, the transmission will start in and hold that gear.

As said it is normal to start in 2nd when placed in 2nd.
It helps when in ice & snow where starting in first has to much TQ and would spin the tires.
Starting in 2nd has less TQ sent to the tires so they may not spin to get you going from a stop.
