I have a 2015 F350 Lariat diesel. The heated mirrors have not worked since I have owned the truck. I finally had time today to dig in to it. I have checked the all of the fuses, wiring to the defrost button and the mirrors and all good. No power to the heat side of the mirrors. The rear window defroster works as well as all other functions of the mirror. What I noticed, is in the power distribution box under the hood there is a 50 amp fuse, a 15 amp fuse and a relay. I have power to the 50 amp and the relay but not the 15 amp fuse. I checked with the key off, key on and truck running, still nothing. Has anyone ran across this before? Any solutions?
2011 and up, the heated mirrors are switched on with the button for the rear window defrost. I have an 04 that the mirrors are thermostatically controlled and turn on and off by themselves.
I would suggest to access the connector within the door and run power to them and see if they heat, then go from there. or see if you are actually getting power to them. Just standard troubleshooting practice.
I wouldn't think they would fail at the same time, but shouldn't be too difficult to troubleshoot either.
I'm also curious about your 2004, I don't think that's a standard option for them to be thermally controlled
