2017+ mirrors on a 2016?

Good afternoon, I took a new super duty for a drive and really liked the new mirrors. Is it possible to put the new style mirrors on a 2016 F350 Platinum? Mine are power fold/telescope/heat/adjust. Will the new plugs fit?
thanks

I think the 2016 mirrors are better towing mirrors, but that is just an opinion. YMMV

No, it isn't plug and play. You'll have to sort out the wiring differences.

I doubt they even bolt on, as the doors are completely different.

Yes.

Owners of 1999-2016 era steel bodied Super Duties have mounted 2017+ style "alumiduty" towing mirrors in droves, usually because of at least two of three reasons listed below:

1. The convex mirror below the main mirror is full width in the 2017+ style, whereas it is cut short in the formerly popular 2008-2016 style.

It should be noted that the convex mirror below the main mirror in the 1999-2007 style towing mirrors was also full width, but it was very shallow in height even at its tallest middle, with the ends rounded up making it even shallower than the much improved 2008-2016 style that replaced it, even though the 2008-2016 style was not full width. The 2017 and up style combined the taller height of the 2008-2016 style, and the full width of the 1999-2007 style, while keeping the ends of the convex mirror full height all the way across.

Enough people liked the 2017+ style to cause the aftermarket to scramble all over each other to produce mirrors in the 2017+ style that bolt right up to 1999-2016 steel doors. We have a few members on FTE who have swapped the mirrors on their old trucks over to the 2017+ style. There are at least a half a dozen different brands of mirrors for the 99-16 that are designed in the 2017+ style. Amazon is flooded with them.

2. The second reason why some of the members with 99-16 trucks and Excursions who made the swap prefer the 2017+ design is that the mirror itself has the 45° chamfer at the upper outside corner. That chiseled corner makes it easer to spot pedestrians in the sidewalk or at the curb getting ready to cross (or jaywalk against their traffic light).

3. Some perceive that the cut corner improves aerodynamics and reduces windnoise, but have not presented any quantification of their perceptions.

As for plug and play wiring, that will depend on the vendor offering the 1999-2016 mirrors in the 2017+ style. Since you have a 2016, it is more likely that the aftermarket has taken the time to match your harness connector, than the harness connector of an older 1999 model, which is quite different.

If you enter "1999-2016" "mirrors" "towing" into an Amazon search, and into a Google search and select IMAGES, you will quite quickly be able to find aftermarket 2017+ mirrors that bolt right up to the sail panels of the 1999-2016 generation doors, and some advertise plug and play for the harnesses... but you will have to research which ones work for your particular full set of features.

Example (as an illustration, not as a recommendation):
